Church location July 3
Church this Sunday, July 3, will be at the Thiessen residence at 6:30 PM.
If you need directions, get in touch.
See CJ's email about the giving projects, and think about preferences.
Also, mark off July 9 for strawberry picking with the Social Committee.
More details on that to follow. Oh, and the Springdale Mennonites do not
exist. I just found out that they left Newfoundland a while back. I will
share more on Sunday.
Simon.

Location June 26, 2005
Church this coming Sunday (June 26, 2005) will be at the Watson's house, and
will be planned and led by Simon. Judith will be absent at a conference, so
hopefully Simon will find a way to start the songs at the right speed and
all that.
In other news, CJ has done some awesome legwork to find us some new
resources for the weekly meetings - stuff for children and grown-ups alike.
So, look for her email and send her your thoughts.
Item #1: Earth Trek
Item #2: Go Second Mile: A peace Journey for Congregations
Item #3: A fundraising catalogue put out by MCC for sunday school groups,
etc.
We will be discussing way to use our offerings towards God's kingdom next
week - so think of some projects local and global we might want to make
contributions to.
That's all for now.
Simon.

Happy Birthday's and Goodbye's
Friday, June 17th was the "surprise" 30th birthday party for Melody. Happy
Birthday! It was a very fun time: lots to eat, a great mix of people,
children running wild with balloons. How does the new decade feel, Mel?
Also in the news, Anne is leaving for Labrador on Monday (*sniffs* all
around) and we all wish her the best of luck in her research. Come home
with a tan, Anne!
As previously mentioned, church will be at CJ and Barton's pad this Sunday,
starting around 6:30 PM. If you need directions, give Scott and Melody a
call (the number is below under "Contact Us.")

Camping a great success (for the black flies)
Well, the MHCSJ got together on a few camp sites in La Manche for a night of
singing, eating, and burning things. It was a grand time, and fun was had
by all. We all discovered that sleeping in temperatures of 3 degrees C will
not kill us, and that blood-thirsty black flies that leave large scary
looking welts on our skin are part of God's creation, too. I guess we need
to love them as a wonderful creature in God's garden. SLAP!
Poor Anna with her red constellations around her head... Simon thinks he
didn't get bit once. At least he never found any bloody spots on his skin.
Perhaps it was the fact that he spent most of his time sitting directly in
the path of the campfire smoke, where no other self-preservinge animal would
care to remain...
Church June 19th is at the Thiessens, I believe. Correct me if I'm
wrong.

Our new source of online info
Hello all,
I have taken the liberty of creating a new, more easy to maintain webpage
for disseminating information for our church. It is called a "Blog."
Go to stjohnsmennonites.blogspot.com, and you will discover a couple of
posts I've put there, as well as this email which was automatically posted
when I included the secret email address located in the Bcc: line of this
message.
I was thinking that posting info about who's hosting when, when the next
social event will be, etc., will be very easy because of this method - I
will be able to send an email that will be posted on this site
automatically. So, bookmark that page and we'll be able to keep up to date.
You will also be able to post comments to the posts, so that followup
information will be kept organized. Just click the "comment" link at the
bottom of each post to add your comments.
Let me know what you think by commenting on this post!
Your humble e-servant,
Simon.

Camping Party!
June 10-12: Camping at La Manche Provincial Park
Ian and Shari will plan the service to be held Saturday night. No gathering
to be organized in St. John's this weekend.
Welcome to the Mennonite House Church in St. John's!
We are a group of Mennonite and Mennonite-friendly people who gather once a week to read scripture, sing together, and pray. We are open to any and all who wish to join us for worship or a social event.
We come together to worship God, nurture one another and struggle to be faithful to God's will. We are a community for children and adults alike who are committed to following Jesus example of nonviolence, inclusiveness and social justice in action. We are open to the Holy Spirit in our fellowship and will support each other to take full responsibility in the life and leadership of the church. Together we see to act out Jesus' command to LOVE.
The Mennonite House Church in St John's meets on Sunday evenings to worship and fellowship together. We have monthly potlucks and get involved outside the church in ministry as well as social justice.
The MHCSJ is a member of the Supportive Community Network. The SCN is a group of Mennonite Brethren Churches in Canada who welcome guests and members regardless of sexual orientation.
Gathering Information:
We meet most Sunday evenings at 6:30 PM.
Location varies from week to week.
If you would like to join us, please contact us via email or phone Scott and Melody at (709) 722-9492.
We would love for you to join us!
